First Grade

Malayna is finally doing a full load of academics this year, which take less than 2 hours to finish each day. The rest is free play. On our days off, we visit museums, parks and go to the library every Tuesday. She is currently doing Second Grade Grammar, Math, Science (Biology), Ancient History and pursuing other interests, like Art and Piano. She is also part of a homeschooling Science Club.

Malayna is a voracious reader and will read several chapter books simultaneously. Sometimes I have to tell her to stop reading! She is currently reading book thirteen of the Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I am currently reading The Kite Fighter to her, which she can't wait to listen every night!

She also likes reading non-fiction books on a variety of subjects and loves reading poetry. She is currently reading about famous artists, such as Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Cezanne. Hopefully we'll get to see their paintings at the DeYoung museum soon!
